Liz LaRose, Judge-Chinas

One of Liz’s favorite pieces, an old H-R Monrovia Buffalo in the “blue” colorway.

Liz started collecting ceramic figurines over forty years ago, and has been judging them in live shows for nearly as long. She owns what might be best described as an eclectic mixture of Hagen-Renaker horses and animals, as well as Royal Worcester, Animal Artistry, Freeman-McFarlin, Thomas Bainbridge Fine Bone China, Royal Copenhagen, Pamala Du Boulay, and Horsing Around sculptures. She also collects custom-glazed, plastic, and artist resin pieces, struggling like most collectors to contain them within the four walls of a modest house. She was recently privileged to be interviewed by the Mares in Black regarding the closure of the Hagen-Renaker factory in California and its implications for collectors. After many years of judging, she still most enjoys judging ceramic pieces, and looks forward to judging your best “clinkies” at the FAMulous show in August.
